The midwest has been seeing record high temperatures this winter and ice conditions have been suffering because of it. Numerous reports of people being stranded by moving sheets of ice have been reported and ice shacks and vehicles have been going through as well. As much as we all love to get out there and go fishing, you really need to take extra precautions to make sure of your safety. This isn’t like first ice when temperatures are consistently cold. Now you have to deal with uneven thicknesses of ice that may be rotted out from the warm temperatures. So keep in mind some safety tips and bring some safety gear when going out there. Going alone isn’t a good idea either.
Stay safe out there.
p.s. The lakes I drive by every day have very dark looking ice…not good.

My name is Brad Bolton, a husband and father of four. I live in Minnesota and I enjoy spending time in the outdoors and also spending time with my family. If there is water nearby, I want to fish it.
